With the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, countries are committed to increasing the ability to adapt to the adverse impacts of climate change and foster climate resilience. The event will provide information about the initiation and set-up of the Global Centre of Excellence on Climate Adaptation in 2017, including on its scope and objectives. After a key-note introduction, describing the role of and need for the Global Centre of Excellence on Climate Adaptation, participants are invited to interact and share their views on the role, need and work field of the Global Centre of Excellence on Climate Adaptation.

The Global Centre of Excellence on Climate Adaptation is a joint initiative of UN Environment, Japan and The Netherlands. It aims to anticipate the increasing urgency to implement adaptation actions and will develop and disseminate information on international best practices (excellence) and progress of implementation to support countries, cities, communities and companies accelerate climate adaptation.
