While research on climate change and urban violence are independently strong, few research efforts have been made to understand the linkages between them. This panel brings together experts in these two fields to discuss and reflect on whether, where, and how climate change and urban violence intersect and interact. The panel seeks to test assumptions about the potential connections between climate change and urban violence, and identify the gaps in the knowledge base and potential entry points for future research and action. Furthermore, the panel considers the security implications of climate change adaptation, and offers recommendations on pursuing conflict-sensitive adaptation for cities in the Global South.
