Over the last decades, South American cities have grown in a fast urbanization pace, accompanied by social inequity and appearance of informal settlements. Many of these cities are already facing or will face the effects of climate change in a near future, which puts this vulnerable parcel of the urban population at risk.

This panel aims to present good practices of resilience strategies and planning with special focus on the governance aspects. It will also encourage a debate on how these current experiences could leverage the scaling up of urban resilience in South America as a sustainable and aligned regional process.
