Despite the importance of resilient transport systems in urban development and emergency response climate resilience in the transport sector has been neglected, often due to a heavy focus on mitigation potential. This session will explore the status of transport adaptation in the UNFCCC process and recent efforts to increase attention to this topic. It will address the issue of resilience in the urban transport infrastructure and operations for (passengers and freight) and explore in some detail how urban mobility can be affected by different aspects of a changing climate and the linkages between adaptation and mitigation efforts. The session will highlight practical experiences of addressing resilience in urban mobility. The session will bring together interested experts and discuss how to develop this topic further.
