The session addresses the urban response to climate change adaptation with particular attention to storm water handling – a challenge shared by cities across Europe and the rest of the world.

The session will give an introduction to how the City of Oslo approaches climate change adaptation in terms of organization and governance. Horizontal cooperation is not something that appears out of thin air, but needs proper organization and anchoring within existing formal and informal governance structures. From this the session will move on to the Storm Water Action Plan, serving as an illustration and example of how to organize cross-disciplinary work at the local level of government, the necessary mandates needed to ensure collaboration and the outcome.
